Warning: this tastes like it’s bad for you.

Here at the Griffo house, we love our breakfast in yummy liquid form. Smoothies and shakes are my husband Mark’s breakfast request nearly every morning. So I’m always trying to find or come up with  new recipes. This one was definitely a huge hit.

This shake is incredible. It’s naturally sweet with frozen banana and dates, and so creamy you’ll be convinced you put ice cream in it… But it’s completely vegan and good for you!

This delicious shake can become a meal in itself by adding 1/2 cup rolled oats. Dessert for breakfast anyone?

Makes 3 small shakes, or 2 large

2 cups almond milk

1/2 cup rolled oats (optional, shake not pictured this way)

1 frozen banana, broken up

1 frozen apple

4 large dates, pitted

4 dried apricots (blenheim variety)

1 tsp chia seeds

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp cacao nibs

ice cubes (about 1/2 cup)

Add all ingredients except ice to blender. Blend until completely smooth, and dates and apricots in very small bits. Add ice to desired thickness. Blend until smooth, and no chunks of ice. Enjoy!
