Thanksgiving Table 2023

As we prepare to gather around the table this year, I can't help but reflect on the simple yet profound beauty of Thanksgiving. It’s a time to slow down, savor the moments, and appreciate the many blessings in our lives. Amid the hustle and bustle of the season, there’s something truly special about sharing a meal with loved ones, surrounded by warmth and laughter. For me, creating a Thanksgiving table is about more than just the food—it’s about setting the stage for a memorable experience, where every detail contributes to a feeling of gratitude and togetherness.

For this year’s table, I drew inspiration from the colors, textures, and elements of the season. Rich, earthy tones—from the soft mustard yellows of the beeswax candles to the warm browns and muted greens of magnolia stems—captured the essence of the harvest and provided a gentle transition into the Christmas season. I love the idea of a table that feels like an extension of the season itself, with natural materials grounding the space and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Instead of a floral arrangement, I opted for a simple vase of magnolia leaves, which added an organic touch to the table. These were complemented by scattered stemmed citrus, walnuts, hazelnuts, and chestnuts, each bringing texture and a bit of unexpected charm. I chose a natural linen tablecloth and napkins, as well as beeswax taper and votive candles. I wanted the table to feel elegant but relaxed—nothing too fussy, just a comfortable setting where everyone could truly enjoy the moment. To achieve this, I went with my usual simple, understated dinnerware in neutral tones, paired with stainless flatware and vintage-inspired glassware, allowing the rich colors and flavors of the food to shine.

Tomorrow as the table fills with loved ones, laughter, and the delicious aromas of the meal, take joy in gathering. It’s not just about the table we set, but the moments shared, the memories made, and the gratitude that fills the air. Here’s to a Thanksgiving full of warmth, connection, and the simple joy of being together. Wishing you a holiday season that feels just as meaningful and beautiful.
